Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of the Patriarch of our family, William (Vasilios) Tsiros on August 27th, 2025 after a long battle with cancer, compounded by a neurocognitive disorder.
Bill was born in Panorama, Province of Grevena, Greece. Though official records list his birthday as April 18, 1944, he was truly born on October 18, 1943, during the Second World War. At that time, Greece was under occupation by Italy and Germany, and his birth went unrecorded. In late 1943, his father, Vasilios, and his uncle Demetrios—both members of the Greek Resistance—were executed in a nearby village. The families went into hiding, and Bill's date of birth was later registered in 1944. In the late 1940s after being displaced for several years and receiving aid from the Marshall Plan, his family was finally able to return to their village. Though he rarely spoke of these early hardships, Bill carried a lifelong gratitude for America, where he found freedom, opportunity, and the chance to build a meaningful life through hard work. He also carried a deep sense of love for his birthplace Panorama, Greece and returned to his village nearly every year.
In Farmington, Bill became a proud citizen and a dedicated member of his community. He served on the Budget Committee, the Planning Board, and the Board of Selectmen, and was elected to represent his town in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.
Alongside his wife of 46 years, Cathy, Bill built a legacy as a successful entrepreneur. Together they operated Kristy's Restaurant and Lounge, the C & B Mini Mart on Charles Street, and the Getty Gas Station, which they transformed into a thriving convenience store. They later launched South Main Pizza, managed by his cousin Christos and wife Savoula, as well as Crossroads Restaurant in Sanbornville and the Two Greeks Restaurant in Farmington. Beyond his restaurants, Bill also invested in numerous homes and apartment buildings, leaving a lasting mark on the community's business landscape. His tireless work ethic, entrepreneurial spirit, and devotion to family were the foundation of his success.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Ann (McGlone); his children Alexander (Kendra) and their son Aristotelis of Farmington, NH; Demetrios (Cara) and their son Nicos of Middleton, NH; Eleni Palmeri (Paul) and their son Paul A. of East Hampton, NY; William Logan (Shannon) and their daughter Hanna of Arlington, MA; and Jaina Clough (Zech Gardner) and their children Cal and Symmes of Charlotte, VT. He is also survived by his brother Theodore (Eleni) and his sister Yanoula Tegos, both of Greece. He was predeceased by his sister Alexandra Karamitsios of Greece and his cousin Christos Tsiros of Farmington, NH.
He will be remembered as a humble and hardworking patriarch who overcame adversity to build a brighter future for the next generations. His legacy lives on in the community he served, the businesses he built, and the love of his family.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the nurses and caregivers at Cornerstone VNA & Hospice, as well as to all who supported Bill with kindness during his final months. Remembrances in his memory may be sent to Cornerstone VNA & Hospice, 175 Farmington Road, Rochester, NH 03867.
