William A. Dennis, 81, of Wakefield NH, formerly of
Marblehead, died June 13, 2011 at Huggins Hospital after an
extended illness. He was the devoted husband of Katherine
Dennis with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.
William was a retired Captain of the Marblehead Police
Department. His family was very proud when he received his
Masters Degree in Criminal Justice while raising a family and
working full time.
William was very involved in various Marblehead committees
until his retirement to New Hampshire.
He was a Ham Radio Operator in the US Navy and served in World
War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed this as a hobby until
just months ago.
He leaves his late son, Martin Dennis. He is also survived by
his son Allan Dennis and daughter-in-law Allison Dennis of
Marblehead, a daughter Marsha Lally and son-in-law Robert of
Danvers MA, a son Robert Dennis and daughhter-in-law Rebecca
of Tamworth NH, and his daughter in law: Kathy Dennis-Prestia
and husband Michael Prestia of Danvers, MA. He also leaves
his grandchildren Christopher & Lindsey Dennis, Elizabeth
Mendez and Matthew Dennis, Katie Lally and Kyle Lally, and Lee
& Laura Dennis, along with several nieces and nephews.
Services are private. The family asks that any donations be
