Sanbornville-Warren L Clifford, 81, of Sanbornville and Davenport, FL, passed away on May 20, 2014 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, in the loving hands of his family. He was recently diagnosed with a metastasized cancer. Born on November 11, 1932, in Waltham, MA, the son of Warren and Lucy (Wass) Clifford, Sr., he was a long time resident of Raymond, NH followed by summering at his lakefront home in Sanbornville and wintering at Deer Creek Golf Resort in Davenport, FL.
After serving in the US Navy, he graduated from Salem State College and Boston University. He was a business education teacher in Raymond and Exeter before enjoying a long career in sales for South-Western Publishing Company, which also served the field of education. He loved life and his family. He is remembered as a kind man with a big heart and a wonderful voice. His endearing smile, personality and song charmed all. He was an avid golfer and Mini-Kar Patrol driver for the Bektash Temple. Children young and old were entertained by full-grown men stuffed into tiny cars during years of parades in the heat of the summer. Revenue earned by the parades goes to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
He is a Past Worshipful Master of the Unity Lodge #62 in Union, NH, and a member of other Masonic Lodges and American Legion Posts in both NH and FL. He served as a town official in Raymond as well as recently served as President of the Mockingbird Ridge Association at Deer Creek.
He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Geneva (Martell) and six children, Ginny, Brenda, Barbara, Marcia, Ken, and Laura and their partners, eight grandchildren, and three great grandchildren, his brother Malcolm and wife Lily (Greenwood) Clifford and their family.
Services: A celebration of his life will be held at The Episcopal Church of St John the Baptist in Sanbornville on Sunday, June 1, at 3 pm Masonic and Eastern Star services will be held at 2 pm Donations in his name may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 2900 Rocky Point Dr, Tampa, FL, 33607 or online at www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
