Walter E. (Mac) McGinley, Jr.
Born September 18, 1923 in Dorchester, MA to Walter E. McGinley, Sr. and Helen Hawes. Mac passed away peacefully on October 29, 2013 at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro surrounded by his loving family.
Mac was a World War II Veteran serving in Guadalcanal, Okinawa and other campaigns. Mac was a Marine through and through "Semper Fi." After serving as a Marine he worked as a hoisting engineer for the Local Union Number 4 in Boston. Upon his retirement he and his wife Virginia moved to Brookfield, NH from South Boston, MA in 1978.
Mac loved fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. He was also an active volunteer at the Wright Museum in Wolfeboro and St. Anthony's Church in Sanbornville which he loved. He will be missed by his many friends old and new as well as his breakfast companions at Katie's Kitchen.
Mac is survived by Virginia (Palmieri) McGinley his beloved wife and friend of 50 years. He is also survived by James C. McGinley and wife Susan of North Quincy MA, Walter E. McGinley III and wife Lori of Situate MA, Cathleen A. (McGinley) Fallon and husband Paul of Lynchburg, VA and Michael E. McGinley and wife Erin of Exeter, NH as well as his grandchildren Melissa, Matthew, Teresa, Elaina, Elizabeth, Aidan, and Connor. He also leaves behind a brother Joseph and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 4th at 10am at St. Anthony's Church in Sanbornville, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wright Museum in his memory.
