Virginia Anne "Ginny" Huckins, age 80, of Chestnut Hill Road, Farmington, NH died May 1, 2018 at Watson Fields in Dover with her family by her side.
Born September 14, 1937, the daughter of Sherman G. and Anne M. (Driscol) Farnum. She was raised in Farmington at the Scruton Farm and attended Farmington High School, and later graduating from Spaulding High School in Rochester. She moved with her husband and family from Rochester to Groveton in 1980, residing there for 22 years, establishing a successful Dairy Farm together "Huck's Hidden Acres" receiving national recognition with their Milking Shorthorns. They moving back to Farmington, NH, sixteen years ago.
She was a former longtime member of True Memorial Baptist Church in Rochester, former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lancaster, a former Coos County Extension Services Representative and 4-H leader.
A loving homemaker and mother, Ginny raised 10 children of her own as well as taking in the "Fresh Air" kids from New York City for years. She enjoyed quilting, knitting and gardening.
Together with her husband, they built four homes.
She was the first registered lady Allied Van Lines driver and drove tractor trailer for her husband's business.
Predeceased by her husband of 50 years: John (Jack) "Huck" Huckins and her daughter Linda J. Huckins.
She is survived by their 2 sons: John D. and wife Cheryl Huckins of Rochester, Thomas E. and wife Michelle Huckins of Farmington, 7 daughters: Catherine Plante of Farmington, Janet and husband James Legere of Acton, Maine, Marcia and husband Gregory Clark of Cornish Flat, Donna and husband William Baker of Somersworth, Brenda and husband Steven Wheeler of Newmarket, Lisa and husband Danny Guay of Groveton, Jennifer and husband Michael Kenison of Jefferson, 26 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren, 2 brothers: George S. Farnum and Ronald N. Farnum.
The family extends a big "Thank You" to all the staff at Watson Fields for the wonderful care that she received.
Calling hours are Sunday, May 6, 2018 from 2-5pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, May 7, 2018 at 11am at Crown Point Cemetery, 1 st Crown Point Road in Strafford, NH.Calling Hours
