Virginia Elaine Gardner, age 71, of Main Street in Farmington, died May 24, 2015, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born August 21, 1943 in Dover, daughter of Patrick and Martha (Plaisted) Cassell, she was raised in Nottingham, resided in Rochester for years and lived the past ten years in Farmington.

Virginia had worked for Travel Centers of America for fifteen years in Greenland.

She loved spending time with her family, also enjoyed cooking and shopping.

Survived by her partner of twelve years: James G. Burton, her 3 sons: Thomas Lanigan, Todd Lanigan, Shawn and wife Charlene Gardner, her 5 daughters: Shari Baranski, Vickie Couch, Tammy and husband Tim Anderson, Tracy Walden, Katherine Gardner and partner Robert Stacy, many grandchildren, several great grandchildren; 3 brothers: Michael Cassell, Roland Gregoire and Norman Gregoire, 3 sisters: Alice Gregoire, Kathy Rogers and Lynn Peters, also several cousins, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband Gerard M. Gardner and siblings: Edward Gregoire, Elizabeth Brannan, Robin Caswell and Mary Lavoie.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday May 31, 2015 from 12noon-4pm at Cottage By The Bay, 97 Piscataqua Road, Dover, NH 03820. In remembrance of Virginia, please wear a small token of pink.
