Thomas "Tom" Evan Loynd of Alton, NH passed away peacefully in his home on October 9th, 2023, just 10 days before his 75th birthday.

Tom was born 10/19/1948 in Oklahoma City, OK, where he spent the first 10 years of childhood, before moving to Los Angeles, CA with his family. During his youth, Tom enjoyed playing baseball, racing and building muscle cars, slot car racing, fishing, and surfing California's coast.

Tom and his wife, Patty, a NH native, relocated to NH in 1986 to be closer to family and enjoy all the natural resources that NH offers as well as embracing rural living.

Professionally, Tom chose an entrepreneurial path as a contractor, with an expertise in painting and faux finishing and furniture restoration.  He worked in hundreds of homes and commercial buildings over his contracting tenure both in NH and California, and was well known for his meticulous craftsmanship and first-class customer service. In his later working years, Tom transitioned to restoring and building custom mahogany boats, classic car detailing, and running his custom lighting business – Northern Lights Lamp Repair.

Tom loved the Lakes Region and all its unique character and charm. He was an active fly fisherman for many years, enjoyed boating on Lake Winni in his mahogany runabout, and could regularly be found tending to the lawn and gardens of his Main St. property. He always had a passion for nature, music, creativity, great food, and socializing with friends. Tom would strike up a conversation with anybody and was known for his quick wit and contagious sense of humor.

Most notably, Tom loved God and loved his family. He was a faithful husband to his wife, Patty, the love of his life, where they recently celebrated 40 years of marriage. As a devoted father to his children, Ryan and Alina, Tom was always present for every soccer game, hockey game, baseball game, dance performance, graduation, wedding, and everything in between. For those Tom leaves behind, he will be dearly missed and never forgotten.

Tom is predeceased by his father, Dick Barton Loynd; his mother, Elizabeth "Dottie" Loynd; and brother, Phil Shawn. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Aline "Patty" Loynd; his son, Ryan Loynd, who resides in AZ with his wife, Kristen Loynd, and three children, Elsie, Cora, and Ethan; his daughter, Alina Witham, who resides in Barnstead, NH with her husband, Travis Witham, and son, Dakota; his sister, Dene Spirit, who resides in CO.

In honor and remembrance of Tom, calling hours will be held at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street in Alton, NH on Saturday, October 14th from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm followed by a memorial service at the Alton Community Church on Church Street in Alton.
