Theresa Ann Libby

Theresa Ann (Haskins) Libby, age 78, of Middleton, NH, passed away, peacefully at home, after a brief illness, on August 30, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Rochester, NH on June 20, 1948, daughter of Horace W. & Sadie J. (Goodwin) Haskins, she was raised in the Middleton area, living here most of her life, returning six years ago to resided with her daughter Terri & husband Mike Laughy.

Theresa was a retired chef, having cooked for Gauthier’s 125 Restaurant in Lee, NH, where she prepared more than food, she made bonds that are everlasting. 

A devoted mother, grandmother, sister and partner, she was especially fond of her great grandchildren and felt especially lucky to have been blessed with them.

Her door was always open, the coffee was always hot, and if you left hungry, that was on you. Her greatest joy was her family, her smile evident each time they were together.

Survived by and forever missed by her children: Terri & husband Michael Laughy of Middleton, Shiela Washburn & boyfriend Doug Burns of Rochester, Dale & husband James of Rochester, Brian & wife Marti Smith of Brownsville, TX, Norma & husband Charles Baron of Rochester, grandchildren: Nicole Obeni, Peter Smith, Jessica Smith, Theresa Case, Brittani Smith, John Smith, Zachary Washburn, Brandon Washburn, Brooke Washburn, Mathew Perkins, Timothy Bohmiller, Hunter Smith, Tyler Baron, Rachel Womack, Kaitlin Baron, Kristy Laughy and Michael Laughy, Jr., and 30 great grandchildren, her sister Julie & husband David Cope, her partner Steve Kelley of Middleton and his children: Cassandra Veilleux of Springvale, ME, Justin Kelley of Auburn ME and 3 grandchildren. Theresa was predeceased by her parents, her husband John C. Smith, Jr. and husband Gregory Libby, her son John C. Smith, III, her siblings: William Haskins, Mary Long and Shirley Elliott, also several Nieces and Nephews.

Family and friends, please come to Celebrate her Life and her favorite time of year on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 11am at the Alton American Legion on Route 28N in Alton, NH. Please wear the color blue in her memory.
