Stephen J. Kirk I, age 60, of Jug Hill Road in Milton Mills, died July 29, 2011, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA.

Born September 11, 1950 in Norwood, MA, the son of Elwin and Catherine (Perron) Kirk, he resided in Milton Mills, NH for most of his life.

A United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War, he was employed as a truck driver for seventeen years. He was a former volunteer fireman for the Town of Milton, having served as Captain.

Stephen was a woodworker who enjoyed making projects for loved ones. He loved camping at Apple Valley Campground and loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. Stephen was known by many and loved by all.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years: Shirley J. (Hutchins) Kirk, a son: Stephen J. Kirk, II and wife April, a daughter: Sheena J. Babine and husband Eric, 2 grandchildren: Chase Kirk, Stella Babine and a grandson on the way, 2 sisters: Cassandra Kirk and Jacquelyn Kirk, 2 brothers: Elwin "Skip" Kirk and Kirk A. Kirk, also many nieces and nephews and his dog: Sophie Rose.

Calling hours are Monday evening from 6-8 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 11:00 am at Community Church of Milton with Rev. Betsy Webber, officiating.
