Sidney A. Bean, age 71, of Farmington, died January 16, 2019, at home, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 19, 1947 in North Conway, a son of Robert and Barbara B. (Downs) Bean, he lived in different locations while serving in the United States Marine Corps, North Carolina, Sixth Street in Dover, NH with his late wife Patricia and resided in Farmington, NH, the past 20 years.

A Veteran of the USMC for 16 years, he served from 1965-1980, 3 tours in Vietnam, a Gunnary Sergeant, recipient of a Purple Heart.

Sid worked as a Mechanic for 25 years at the Public Works Department with the City of Rochester.

He was a member and Past President of Frontiersman Camping Fellowship, for over 20 years.  Sid "Wooly Bear" Bean was awarded their "Flame Of Honor", the highest recognition that the FCF can bestow upon a person, given for unselfish acts of heroism; for service, dedication and devotion to FCF purposes, to the goals of Royal Rangers, or to the advancement of Christianity; or for the betterment of mankind in a single act, a series of deeds, or a lifetime given to the service of others. He also served as Gun Instructor for black powder guns with the Royal Rangers. An avid camper, with a canvas tent, 1800's clothing and cooking.

Also a member of the American Legion and the Pemigawasset Gun and Rifle Range in Holderness, NH and the Christian Worship Center in Barrington.

Survived by his wife of 18 years Margaret "Maggie" Bean, 2 children: Sharon and husband Michael Holdsworth, of Crest View, Florida, Christina Bean of Farmington, 4 stepchildren: Donna and husband Michael McCarthy, Terri Ferry, Brian and wife Kim Talon, Lindsey Talon, 9 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren, his sister Joanne Wotton, also several nieces and nephews.  Predeceased by his son Eric Bean, 2 brothers: John Bean and Paul Bean.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 11:00am at the Milton Assembly of God, 370 White Mountain Highway in Milton, NH.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to: Wounded Warriors or Vietnam Veteran Wall Fund.
