Obituary

Alton, NH

Seldon Elera Alden, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2025, after a long, courageous battle with MS.

Sel was born in Wolfeboro, NH on April 7,1958 and was the eldest son of Weston and Dorothy Alden.  He was very proud that he lived all his life in Alton, NH.

After graduating from Alton High School, he worked beside his dad Wes at the family business, Alden's Garage, taking over the business after Wes died.  Along with running the garage, he plowed for over 30 years, the highway between Alton and New Durham.  Upon selling the business, he went to work for the highway department, until the MS took hold of his body.  Running the family business six and half days of the week did not leave a lot of time for family and fun, but following the family tradition of his Grandfather, Father and uncles, Sel was a member of the Winnipesaukee Lodge #75 of Alton.

Seldon married and had a daughter Tonya (husband Rob Booth) and son Nathan (wife Cindy), with his former wife Kathy.  His children gave him grandchildren that he was very proud of, keeping up with all their activities on Facebook each day.  There is Raelyn, Rylee, Ryker, Rhana, Piper and Oliver.

Besides his children and grandchildren, Seldon leaves his younger brother Robert Alden (wife Leslie), sisters: Naomi Potter (husband Carroll), Rev. Gerry Piper, adopted sisters: Rosina Wallace and Barb Greer.  He also leaves many cousins, nephews and nieces.

Seldon is no longer in pain and has met his Lord and been reunited with his father and mother, also his sister Merrianne and brother in law Harlie Lamper.

There will be a celebration of Sel's life, with the Masonic Lodge Service for a departed brother on Sunday, August 24, 2025 at 4pm at the Masonic Lodge, 40 Suncook Valley Road, Route 28S, Alton, NH.  Following the service, there will be a time of fellowship and refreshments.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that a donation be made in Seldon's name to the New Hampshire Humane Society/Laconia, 1305 Meredith Center Road, Laconia, NH 03246, or to your favorite charity.
