Ronald E. "Soupy" Sayles, Sr., age 80, of Alton, NH, died Sept. 18, 2024.
Born on April 5, 1944 and raised in Quincy, Massachusetts, the son of Earle R. Sayles & Gladys K. (Brown) Sayles, he resided in Alton, NH since 1983. Lincoln/North Woodstock, NH held a special place in his heart.
Ronald was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy, having served during Vietnam, also stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, and while stationed in Bermuda, he was a "Golden Glove Boxer."
A Navy Seal with UDT Team 21, he was part of Gemini 6 and 7 Space Shot Recovery Mission.
Soupy worked for forty years in Construction, with building bridges.
He was an avid sports fan, of Boston teams, Alabama College Football, Chicago Bulls and Washington Redskins.
Survived by his wife of 49 years Robin E. (Amaral) Sayles, and their 2 sons: Ronald E. Sayles, Jr., Jason L. & wife Cindy Sayles, 6 grandchildren: Veronica, Nathaniel, Paige, Dylan, Kyle and Jayden, 2 great grandchildren: Aubrey Violet and Jackson, also his beloved dog Valerie.
Predeceased by his parents, son Jarrod, sister Judith and niece Sandy.
A Service will be held on Friday, September 27, 2024 at 9am at the chapel at New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen, NH, family and friends are welcome. Urn interment will be in the niche at the columbarium there. If desired, memorial donations may be made in his memory to your local animal rescue/humane society.
