Obituary

Farmington, NH

Ronald G Krawczyk, Sr., age 70, of Kings Highway in New Durham, passed away peacefully at his home, on August 23, 2015.
Born January 18, 1945 in Hoboken, NJ, he was the son of Wallace Scobie and Anna (Rogers) Krawczyk, and the step-son of Edwin Krawczyk. He was raised by his grandparents, Thomas and Mary Rogers, and spent the first half of his life residing in Lowell, MA. He was a former Red Raider and graduate of Lowell High School, Class of 1963.

A Veteran of the United States Navy, he served proudly on the USS Magoffin, under the Captain, during the Vietnam War. He was most proud of his first mission, which entailed launching the first battalion of floating Marines, for which he was awarded the US Expeditionary Forces Medal.

Upon returning from Vietnam, he continued his life-long career of service by becoming a correctional officer at the Concord State Prison, which then led to his attendance in the 53rd Academy session of the NH Police Standards and Training at Pease Air Force Base. He served his community proudly for ten years in the towns of Rochester and Farmington and concluded his career in law enforcement as the Chief of Police in Middleton. Upon his retirement from law enforcement, he transitioned careers and became a letter carrier and shop steward for the United States Postal Service; Farmington office.

Ron was an insightful and generous man, sharing his wisdom to anyone smart enough to pay attention. He was known for his great smile and infectious laugh. A prominent figure for his children and many of the children in the community, he spent a lot of time at the 500 Boys Club, Fernald Park and the FHS fields and gym.

He was a tough man, having fought in the Silver Mittens and Golden Gloves boxing competitions during his younger years, but anyone who truly knew him, knew he was the best giver of hugs, the best speaker of positive words and encouragement and the person that wanted everyone to get a shot at happiness. He was a truly gentle soul. Past that tough exterior, he was a person that wanted to give others a reason to smile and something to believe in. He had a soft spot for the people that society viewed as no good troublemakers, especially the youths. He would take the time to make them feel special, whether it was giving them a ride when no one else would, throwing them a few bucks for something to eat, playing ping pong with them at the town recreation center, or teaching them how to fight in a ring in an honorable and gentlemanly fashion.
Ron's final 24 hours were spent with his loved ones. He attended his grandson's first birthday party, and gazed at his family and friends in wonderment of it all. His sea-blue eyes twinkled and his smile gleamed bright as he looked on at his children and his grandchildren, and reflected on all that he had accomplished in his life. Truth is, he was at peace and we can only assume that the one thing he missed the most, was being able to have his beloved wife Monique, by his side.

Survived by his loving children, his daughter: Jenn Haskell and her husband Brian, his sons: Thomas Krawczyk and Patrick Krawczyk, his grandchildren: Rory and Finnegan Haskell, his sister: Deborah Guthrie and her husband John, his uncles: George Rogers and his wife Kathleen, William Rogers and his fiancée, Lorraine LeDoux, Charles Rogers and his wife, Margaret, John Rogers and his wife, Elizabeth. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends, but his most loyal friend of all, his precious dog Sadie.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, August 28th, 2015, at Peaslee Funeral Home located at 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH 03835. The family invites you to celebrate this great man between the hours of 6pm to 7pm.
