Ronald Cartier, 62, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday June 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family, following a 7-year courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 24th, 1953, he was the youngest of 3 children of the late Raymond B. Cartier Sr and Ethel (MacFee) Cartier of Millis Massachusetts.
He was a graduate of the Millis, Ma High School class of 1971 and attended the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, Ma, where he received a degree in computer engineering in 1973. He was a Senior Field Service Technician for the Xerox Corporation, where he enjoyed the company of many co-workers and friends.
He enjoyed being outdoors and kayaking in his free time. He was an excellent craftsman and spent much of his free time building and improving many projects around his home and the homes of his children. He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, MaryEllen (McKenney) Cartier of Sanbornville NH, a son Brian Cartier, his wife Rachel, and grand daughters Hannah and Olivia of Milton Mills NH, a daughter Kristine Cartier and grandson Keelan Kennedy of Rollinsford NH, his brother Raymond B. Cartier Jr. and wife Penny of Bourne, Ma, his sister Sandra Cartier of Torrance, Ca, and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 9th at 11am at St. Anthony's Church, 25 Meadow St, Sanbornville, NH. Burial will follow at the Lovell Lake Cemetery, with reception to follow.
The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation to the oncology teams at The Seacoast Cancer Center at Wentworth Douglass Hospital and Massachusetts General Hospital for their excellence in caring for Ron throughout his illness.
If desired, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in Ron's name to a charity of their choice in support cancer research. A friend of the family, Michael Kennard, will be riding in the 35th annual Prouty bicycle ride to raise funding for cancer research at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center. He has requested permission from the family to ride in honor of Ron (dad) this year. The bike ride will occur on Saturday July 9th as well.
