IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Roland Joseph
Moreau
May 3, 1962 – July 25, 2023
Middleton, NH
Roland Joseph Moreau, 61, died on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at his home in Middleton, NH with his devoted wife by his side. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his cancer with strength and grace.
Roland was born in the Lakes Region to his parents Raymond and Rachel Moreau. He had three brothers and four sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and one sister. He spent several years with the Army Reserves after graduating from Dover High School. Roland worked hard as a master carpenter in the harsh New England elements. He had a gift for woodworking and also enjoyed it as a hobby. Roland was married to the love of his life, Diana (Higgins) Moreau on August 1, 1987, under a tall cedar tree in Milton Mills. He may have said that being an (exceptional) husband, father of one son, Daniel Higgins, and two daughters, Kristen Paquette and Michelle Sharp, was his greatest joy in life. Time went on to bless him with five granddaughters that added to his greatest joys. His grandchildren affectionately called him "Dumpy."
Words cannot express the wonderful experience of spending time with Roland. He was humble, quiet, generous, and wise. Though he endeared himself in gentle ways, he had great strength. He is remembered also by his physical appearance with curly hair and his genuine, soft smile. Roland enjoyed nature and listening to music. There are fond memories of exploring the Kancamagus Highway and visiting Fort Foster. The simple pleasures in life were never overlooked, and gratitude was expressed for each one. Roland was most proud of his beautiful, gracious wife, their children, and grandchildren. He assumed the role of the protector with finesse. He engaged family and friends with his philosophical thinking. A child at heart, he found curiosity in the stars, enjoyed model rockets, and making silly faces with his grandchildren.
He was known to gently remind people, "You've got to have faith," and "Pay attention." Roland left a powerful footprint on the hearts of many. His lessons will always guide those that have been fortunate enough to share in his wisdom. The loss is immeasurable, but so is the love he left behind.
