Obituary

Robert E. Gedney fell asleep in Christ on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, following a brief illness.  Born in Medford, MA on April 5, 1938, Bob was the son of the late Dr. Edwin K. Gedney, a longtime professor at Gordon College (Wenham, MA), and Dorris C. Gedney.

A beloved family member and precious servant of Jesus, Bob is survived by his loving wife, Diane; a sister, Cynthia (Charles) Bostock; children, Susan Gedney Cunio of Pittsfield, MA; Sandra Tuttle (Michael) of Pittsfield, MA and Bill Neitring of Stafford, VA; seven grandchildren, Caleb (Arielle) Tuttle, Chloe (John T.) Bernens, Jacob (Olivia) Tuttle, Jared (Amber) Tuttle, Rex Cunio, Robert Chapman and Ryen Neitring and five great-grandchildren, Daisy, Galilee, Shepherd, Glory Jane, and Hudson.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Priscilla) Gedney, and sisters Barbara (Dale) Schaeffner and Priscilla (Clinton) Taber.

Bob worked for Spire Corporation for over forty years and retired to Alton Bay, New Hampshire, where he loved and served others wholeheartedly.

A constant theme throughout Bob's life was his passion for music, through which he enthusiastically expressed his love for the Lord.  Bob directed and sang in various choirs, cantatas, and quartets and would start everyone singing wherever he could seize the opportunity.

Always lending a helping hand, Bob was generous with his time and resources for anyone who needed assistance.  There was never a "no" in his vocabulary; it was always, "We can do this."

Bob loved his family deeply. He faithfully served the Lord and now awaits his blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of his great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
