Obituary

Robert A. (Bob) Ferland , 84 , of Farmington, NH, died peacefully at home on August 13, 2021 , after a long period of declining health, surrounded by his loving family .

Bob was born in Rochester, NH on August 5, 1937 to Emile and Frances (Clough) Ferland Cole.

He is survived by his loving wife Eileen (Place) Ferland , his daughter Kelly and husband Mark Heon , his son Korey Ferland ; four grand sons , Matthew Heon , Andrew, Patrick, and Sean Ferland ; one granddaughter, Erica and husband Timothy Seawards , and one great - grandson, Gavin Seawards . He was predeceased by his stepsister BettyAnn (Cole) Cantelli.

Bob was raised in Farmington where he resided most of his lif e , graduating from Farmington High School in 1955 . Bob was proud to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. After being honorably discharged, he returned to Farmington where he met the love of his life, Eileen Place, and they raised their two children.

Bob began his career as a lineman for Public Service Company of New Hampshire in 196 1 . While working for Public Service, he studied electricity and earned his Master's Electricians license. After spending many years with Public Service, including several years at the Seabrook Nuclear Power Plant, Bob decided to venture out on his own. In 1988 he started his own business, Northern Breeze HVAC, and worked as an HVAC technician and electrical contractor until his retirement.

He had a passion for music and loved playing the guitar. A self - taught musician, he played in a band known as 'Bobby and the Drifters' in the late 50s and early 60s performing at local venues and bars. Even after his performing days were over, Bob continued to perfect his craft and passed on his love of the guitar to his grandson Matt.

Bob was an avid Boston sports fan and would especially look forward to football season when he could watch his beloved Patriots with his son and friend Dennis Lepene. The sports teams he loved watching best , however, were the ones for which his grandchildren played. He had four grandsons to watch play baseball, football, soccer, hockey, run track and practice karate. Watching his granddaughter figure skate brought him tremendous happiness and lots of fun traveling to Lake Placid and Cape Cod in the summers.

Bob was happiest being around family and they were the center of his universe. He especially enjoyed birthday celebrations, holidays and summer parties when his whole family would be together . For many years he hosted his "lobster feed" and fed lobsters and steamers to a b ig crew in his back yard, and cooked a big steak for himself.

He also enjoyed all the trips he took with his wife over their fifty-six-year marriage, most recently the winters spent in Florida and Myrtle Beach, SC before he became too ill to travel.

In recent years, Bob became passionate about reading and studying the Bible, and

enjoyed the Bible study groups he & Eileen hosted at their home. He was a member of Grace Community Church, and watched services online when he could not attend in person. Pastor Glen Boardman and his beautiful wife Sue served Holy Communion to him the Sunday before he passed away, and he was so grateful for that.

The last several years of Bob's life were spent in and out of the hospital, clinging so hard to this life on earth. We will not remember those times, but will remember the sound of a hymn whistled over a guitar picking in the den and being greeted by a big smile .

Bob's family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Cornerstone VNA for the loving care that Bob received from them over the last few years.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will take place on Saturday August 28th, 2021 at 11:00am at Grace Community Church , 57 Wakefield Street, Rochester, NH . To express condolences, please visit: www.peasleefuneralhome.com .
