Reinhard F. "Richard" Guldbrandsen, age 68, died September 21, 2018.
Born August 22, 1950 in Aalen, Germany, the son of Walter F.H. Guldbrandsen and Erika K. Guldbrandsen, he was raised in Wakefield, NH and had resided in the Boston, MA area since 1970.
A graduate of Spaulding High School in Rochester, NH, Class of 1969.
Richard went to nursing school at the Deaconess Hospital, volunteered at the Peter Bent Brigham Emergency Room, and then went on to work a Massachusetts Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. He was licensed as a funeral director in both Massachusetts and New Hampshire. He went on to own and operate Poor Peoples' Movers and subsequently his own small engine repair shop. He then graduated from Blue Hills Regional Technical School with and HVAC certification. Richard took great pride in his work and always tried to serve the best interest of his patients and customers.
Richard loved expanding his knowledge on every topic and had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. He was a man of independent and creative thought and spent his free time devouring books on history, philosophy, theology, and the Bible. He had hoped to write a book on the "Sacred Mysteries" that would attempt to explain how the greatness of a society, and it's economy, depended on the love of the people and their leaders for each other, as well as justice and equality.
He was a humble man of great faith who witnessed his life's miracles to all who would listen. He attributed the miracles in his life to following God's calling. He was devoted to and took great joy in attending and supporting the churches he attended, primarily the Tabernacle Baptist Congregation in Roslindale, MA and the United Methodist Church in Sanbornville, NH which he was involved in since 1963.
He felt some of his greatest accomplishments in life were saving a young woman from being dragged into a vehicle in the Fenway, standing up to six KGB agents while protesting the imprisonment of the Refuseniks in the USSR at a hockey game and standing his ground during the heightened tensions of the Regan era, and raising his daughter to fulfill his dream of becoming a pharmacist.
He was fiercely loyal and devoted to his family always putting his loved ones needs above his own comfort and always encouraging.
Survived by his daughter Rita Guldbrandsen-Richards and husband Jeff Richards and their two sons: Nathan and Noah Richards, Rita's mom Linda, 4 siblings: Heinz Guldbrandsen and children: Tamara Guldbrandsen-Lamothe and her family Shane Thyng, Shawn Thyng and Jason Lamothe, Jr., Brett Guldbrandsen and Bekki and his daughters, Briana Guldbrandsen-Garrett, Adrianna Guldbrandsen and Ariel Guldbrandsen and daughter Kristi-Rae Guldbrandsen and her son Riley Stephens, Evelyn and husband Kevin Ray and their children Kristen Ray and Benjamin Ray, Fred Guldbrandsen and his son Thaddeus and his sons Zander Guldbrandsen and Asa Guldbrandsen, Rose Askins and husband George Hanchett, Jr. and their children: Amanda Law and grandniece Andrea Law, Matthew Askins and Ryan Hanchett, and cousins in Germany.
