Raymond R. Garland, age 91, of Main Street in Farmington, died peacefully at home, December 15, 2018. "He's gone home to be with the Lord."
Born November 22, 1927 in Braintree, Massachusetts, a son of Raymond I. and Emily M. (Allfrey) Garland, he resided in Farmington, NH for most of his life.
Ray was a United States Army Veteran of World War II.
He was very active with the Farmington American Legion Post #60, a Past Commander for them, and also active with the D.A.V.
Ray volunteered at the Tilton Veteran's Home putting BINGO on for 50years. He drove the van to transport local veterans to their appointments at the Manchester VA Hospital and White River Junction VA Hospital. He was Grand Marshall at the 2018 Memorial Day Parade in Farmington.
Ray had travelled to all 48 lower states and has thousands of pictures of his travel. A collector of eagles, now, "He's Flying High with the Eagles."
He also loved hunting, fishing and spending time with his family.
Widower of the late Muriel (Howard) Garland, married for 41 years, also widower of Doris (Moulton) Garland married for over 5 years. Survived by his 3 daughters: Jeanette Colpitt, Lorraine Rightmire and Kimberly Bolduc, 9 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, also many nieces, nephews and a sister in law Joan Garland. Predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers: Victor Garland, Donald Garland and sister Patricia McCarthy.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 11am at First Baptist Church in Farmington, NH with Rev. Dr. Richard Rizzi, pastor, officiating. Urn interment will be in the spring at Crown Point Cemetery in Strafford. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Legion Post #60 or D.A.V. Cremation care by Peaslee Funeral Home.
