Ray R. Smith, age 84, of Trotting Park Road in Farmington, NH, died peacefully, surrounded by family September 13, 2020, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital in Dover, NH.

Born January 12, 1936 at Governor's Island, New York, son of Ray C. Smith and Selma (Weyland) Smith.  He resided in Farmington, NH for 46 years.

Ray worked in the corrugated container industry his entire life, retiring as a supervisor after 31 years at Rand-Whitney Container in Dover, NH.

Ray was a man of small stature but had a larger than life personality.  He loved people and made friends wherever he went.  Family gatherings and going out to eat were his favorite things.  He loved nature and had been camping with his family for the last 35 years, most recently at Terrace Pines Campground in Center Ossipee, NH where he became known by all.

Survived by his loving family, wife of 48 years Frances E. (Fowler) Smith, 8 children: Karen and husband Dennis Williams, Tammy Donovan, Shawn Smith, Paula and spouse Steve Jacques, Pamela Smith, Matthew and wife Laura Smith, Andy and wife Diana Smith, Timothy Smith and companion Morgan, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, a brother Richard Smith and 3 sisters: MaryAnn Lloyd, Selma Lloyd and Ellen Carpentier.  He was predeceased by a sister Atta Bourgeois and a brother Guy Smith.  He also leaves behind his faithful dog, Cookie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you follow Ray's example by showing love and kindness to all who cross your path.  If you have a special memory of Ray please send it along to us.  We will share these memories at a Celebration of Life at a later date, no services will be held at this time.
