ALTON — Ralph Lawrence Drew Sr., 83, of Alton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2010, at Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro.

He was born on June 5, 1926 in Lebanon, Maine, the son of Robert B. and Grace M. (Lord) Drew of Farmington and the brother of Roberta (Drew) Spratt (Roy) of Advance, N.C., and Grace (Drew) Baud (Robert) of Farmington.

He was predeceased by his wife, Edythe (Petit) Drew, also of Alton.

He leaves two loving children, a daughter, Sandra-Jean (Drew) Roberge and husband, Don, of Crystal River, Fla., and a son, Ralph (Larry) Lawrence Drew, Jr. and wife, Denise, of Zephyrhills, Fla.; two grandsons, Bradley Drew Roberge (Sarah) of Epsom, and Lt. j.g. Justin Drew of Jacksonville, Fla.; two granddaughters, Michelle LaJoie of Winter Springs, Fla., and Wendy Webber of Oak Hill, Va.; five great-grandchildren and a foster grandson, Hung Tran, Esq. of Boston, Mass.; nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends to numerous to mention individually.

Mr. Drew spent his career in the road construction business as a heavy equipment specialist, and upon retirement, spent many hours volunteering in the community and for individuals wherever and whenever needed.

Memorial services will be held at the Peaslee Funeral Home in Alton in the spring; date and time will be announced at a later date.

The immediate family wants to thank all the family members, friends and neighbors who helped Ralph during his illness; your contribution of love, friendship, food, phone calls and caring will never be forgotten.
