Farmington, NH
Priscilla Louise Hersey of Farmington, NH., died Friday, November 6, 2015 at the age of 82. She was born on June, 14th1933 in Eliot, Maine, daughter of the late Floyd Paul and Lydia Zoffoli Paul, and grew up in South Berwick, Maine.
She graduated valedictorian of her senior class from Berwick Academy. She received a full scholarship to attend Boston College to pursue a Bachelor's degree in nursing, but left early to marry John Hersey and to raise a family. They settled in Durham, N.H., where she lived for the next twenty-five years. During this time, she began working at Wentworth-Douglas Hospital, initially as an LPN, then eventually as an RN, after receiving a Bachelor's Degree in nursing from NH Technical Institute. She worked at Wentworth-Douglass Hospital for almost fifty years, her home away from home.
She loved to cook; her sticky buns were legendary, both at home and at the hospital. She was a masterful seamstress. She could knit and/or crochet anything, quilted, and even did rug-braiding. But the essence of her personage cannot be measured by her visible achievements – The people that truly knew her, admired her integrity, steadfastness, inner strength, humility, selflessness, and clarity of purpose. Her life's mission was to help others.
She is survived by her three daughters and two sons; her six grandchildren, her great grandchild, her brother Harvey Paul, and last but not least, her beloved little dog and her big gray goose. She was predeceased by her brother Arnold Paul.
Friends and family may call at the Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Ave Farmington, NH from 11AM to 1PM on Wednesday, November 11th 2015. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2PM on Wednesday, November 11th 2015 at the Lakeview Cemetery in Wolfeboro, NH. A reception will follow.
