IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Orphia J.
Urquhart
July 7, 1924 – December 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Orphia J. (Margison) Urquhart, 101, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She passed peacefully at her home in Middleton, NH on December 1, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born July 7, 1924, in Upper Knoxford, NB, CA, on her family's farm, she learned young the value of hard work. Graduating from college in St. John, NB, she devoted her life to becoming a compassionate, caring and skilled nurse. She spent most of her career patching up hockey players in Montreal (including the likes of Bobby Orr), tourists at Cottage Hospital in Nantucket, Boston area hospitals, and Frisbie Memorial Hospital. She spent the last of her nursing days as a beloved school nurse with the Farmington, NH school system.
It was while nursing near Boston that she met her husband and dearest love, Andrew Urquhart. Together they raised three children and had grand adventures traveling across the United States, including Alaska, in their RV. As the heart of the family, Orphia taught patience, kindness and the importance of faith. Orphia never forgot a friend, keeping in contact with all family, no matter how distant, even those from nursing school. She had unwavering faith in her love for the Lord and found her greatest comfort in His word and Gospel. Orphia never missed the weekly prayer request letters from Nute Ridge Chapel, even when she could no longer read them herself.
Orphia is predeceased by her parents C. Harley and Francis Margison; Brothers Gerald Margison and wife Shirley; Paul Sloat and wife Anna; Husband Andrew G. Urquhart, Sons Glen A. Urquhart and Bruce D. Urquhart.
Orphia is survived by her daughter Andrea (Urquhart) Bowden and husband Don; and the greatest joys of her life, her grandchildren Stephanie, Heather, Scott, and Matthew; and great grandchildren Vinaya, Colt and Nash; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. Her absence will be deeply felt for years to come. But her legacy will live on through the memories that we shared, the values she instilled in us, her kindness and the love she gave.
A graveside service will be held in the spring at the New Riverside Cemetery, Alton, NH. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Orphia's memory to donate to Cornerstone VNA in Rochester, NH or a charity dear to your heart.
John 11:25-26 – "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.'"
