Oren O. Bentley, Jr., age 76, of Coffin Brook Road in Alton, died Monday evening, December 21, 2009, at his home, after a long battle with lung disease.

Born March 25, 1933 in Saugus, Mass., son of the late Oren and Nancy (Porter) Bentley, he was known by the nickname of ?Brother? by family members and old friends. Raised in Saugus, he was a graduate of Saugus High School, Class of 1952, a longtime resident there, he moved to Alton, NH in the year 2000.

He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. After sixteen weeks of infantry training, he was assigned to the 523 Military Police Company at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Aberdeen, Maryland. He was awarded an Honorable Discharge in February of 1961.

A graduate of Lincoln Institute School of Engineering, a division of Northeastern University in Boston with an Associates Degree in Mechanical Engineering, he worked at the New England Trawler Equipment Company in Chelsea, MA for 38 years, retiring in 1994.

He was a member of William Sutton Lodge AF & AM in Saugus, MA and the Farmington NH Fish and Game Club. As a youth he enjoyed playing baseball, football and hockey, a two year member of the Saugus High Hockey Team. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

His first love was his wife and family, he treasured the memories of their times spent together.

Survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of over fifty five years: Nancy Ann (Turcotte) Bentley of Alton, their four children: Bonny and husband David Ward of Barrington, NH, Oren O. III and wife Gail Bentley of No. Conway, NH, Donald and wife Marilyn Bentley of Fremont, NH, Nancy and husband Michael Iarrobino of Hudson, NH, grandchildren: Michael and wife Melanie Ward of Dover, NH, Steven Ward of Dover, NH, Erin and husband Matthew Hatch of Barrington, Oren O. Bentley, IIII of No. Conway, NH, Allison Iarrobino of Hudson, NH, Kelly and husband Michael Lloyd of Manchester, NH, Nikkie and husband Rolando Quintana of Manchester, great grandchildren: Abigail Ward, Evan Merrifield, Ryley Hatch and Cora Quintana, 2 sisters: Mrs. Mary Perry of Saugus, MA and Mrs. Nancy Crowell of Harrison, ME, also several Nieces and Nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Patricia Kelley of Middleton, MA and a brother James Bentley of Newburyport, MA.

There are no calling hours, family and friends are welcome to a Funeral Service on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street, Alton, NH. Interment will be in the spring at New Riverside Cemetery in Alton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Lung Association.
