Nicholas J. Ivone, age 84, of Bolan Road in Milton, NH, died October 19, 2012, at the VA Hospital in Manchester.
Born July 11, 1928 in Boston, MA, the son of Frank and Concetta (Cozzo) Ivone, he was a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War.
He resided in Milton, NH since 1985, having come from Byfield, MA and having wintered in Morrilton, Arkansas for many years.
Prior to retirement, Nick had owned and operated Byfield Radiator in Byfield, MA. He was an honorary member of the Byfield Volunteer Fire Department.
He was instrumental in forming the Newbury Lions Club in Newbury, MA, a Past President. In Milton, NH, he was an active parishioner at the former Sacred Heart Church, a parishioner at St. Anthony's Church in Sanbornville, NH and more recently at St. Peter's Church in Farmington, NH.
Nick enjoyed traveling, woodworking, farm gardening, crafting silver jewelry, Bingo and cooking, especially his famous cole slaw.
Survived by his wife of 59 years Loretta F. (Meuse) Ivone and their 5 children: Michael Ivone of Center Barnstead, NH, Theresa LeBlanc of Colorado Springs, CO, Stephen Ivone of Morrilton, AK, Thomas Ivone of Groveland, MA and Sharon Brown of Rochester, NH, 17 grandchildren and several great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Katherine Filmore of Byfield, MA and Marie Brown of Malden, MA, also several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter Janine in 1968 and by a brother Frank Ivone, Jr. in WWII.
Calling hours are Monday evening from 4-7pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH, with a funeral service on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 10:00am at the funeral home with Fr. Edmund A. Babicz, pastor of St. Anthony's Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery (St. Anthony's) in Sanbornville, NH with military honors by the United States Army.
