Obituary

Newton Savage Stevens passed away at his home in Farmington, N.H. following a short illness. He was born in Portland, Maine on February 23, 1944 to Charles and Nyra (Savage) Stevens of Stratton, Maine. Newt was raised and educated in Stratton graduating from Stratton High in 1962. He also attended Husson College. In 1967, he joined the United States Air Force and served as a communication specialist in Thailand during the Vietnam War. Following his military time, he worked for several oil companies in Maine and New Hampshire. He retired from Eastern Propane in 2016.

He and his beloved wife, Joyce (Manson) Stevens, built a loving home together in Farmington over the past 12 years.

In addition to Joyce, he is survived by his two children by a previous marriage, Charles and Melissa (Brann) Stevens and Ernesta (Stevens) Kennedy, four grandsons, Tyler, Charles and Andrew Kennedy and Cash Stevens. He is predeceased by his son in law, Joshua Kennedy.
His marriage to Joyce also gave him stepchildren from her first marriage: Gary, Stephen and Kellie and Vickie (Mosher) and Tim DiPrizio and Lynette (Mosher) and Daniel Place, Kevin and Nichole Mosher, eleven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with more to come!

He found joy in spending time at camp, as a boy with his cousins, as a dad with his children and and a grampa with his grandsons. Newt was an avid Boston sports fan. He loved playing cribbage. Later in life, he enjoyed his time going to Bingo, taking bus trips, and finding the best deals. Newton's heart belonged to his family, and his warmth and generosity drew people to him. His laugh could fill a room, and he never met a stranger. He will always be deeply loved and cherished by everyone who had the joy of knowing him.

There will be a celebration of life at the convenience of the family.
