Nelson E. Chamberlin, age 95, a longtime resident of New Durham, NH, died April 29, 2021, peacefully at home in Rancho Cucamonga, California, where he most recently resided.
Born December 14, 1925, on the Chamberlin homestead in New Durham, NH, a son of John Burley and Edna G. (Blackmar) Chamberlin, he resided there for most of his life. He moved to California in 2010.
A Veteran of the United States Navy, he served during World War II.
Nelson served as Road Agent for the Town of New Durham for over 30 years.
A member and Deacon at the First Free Will Baptist Church, member of American Legion Post #72 in Alton and Lion's Club of Alton.
His hobbies included excavation, woodworking, working on old cars and trucks. He enjoyed family and friends, family dinners and ice cream.
Survived by his 2 children: daughter Margaret "Peg" and husband Mark Stevens, son John E. and wife Wanda Chamberlin, 7 grandchildren: Matthew, Joshua, Jennifer, Burley, Heather, Robert and Anthony, 4 great grandchildren: Charlie, Brody, Emma and Samuel, his brother George Chamberlin and his wife Cheryl, also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Freda M. (Smith) Chamberlin and wife Mary Weeden, sister Ruth Vold and brothers: Lewis Chamberlin and Carlton Chamberlin.
A Graveside Service is planned for Friday May 21, 2021 at 1 pm at John C. Shirley Memorial Cemetery in New Durham, family and friends are welcome.
