Nancy McKone, age 77, of Alton Bay NH, passed away at home surrounded by her family on August 15, 2015.
Born January 4, 1938 in Newton New Hampshire, the daughter of Pearl and Ben Leonard, she resided at Lakehurst Cottages in Alton Bay. She lived most of her life in Alton Bay and attended Alton Central School.
Nancy was the proprietor of Lakehurst cottages on Lake Winnipesaukee for over 50 years. She loved the lake. She also loved animals, especially rescued Greyhounds.
She was predeceased by her mother and father and by her husband, John "Jack" McKone. She is survived by five children: Judy McKone, James McKone and wife Janet, Jean Stone and husband Robert, John McKone and wife Cindy, Joel McKone and wife Margaret; four grandchildren: Jamie McKone, Danny McKone, and Sarah and Shelby Stone; five siblings: Ann Shibley and husband Peter, Barbara Ayer and husband Bill, Ellin Leonard and husband Dick, Sharon Hannifin and husband Gary, and Stephen Leonard.
On September 19, 2015 a time for reflection and remembrance will be held at the Alton Bay Community Center from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, followed by a celebration of life at her home at 9 McKone Lane from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Donations may be made in her memory to a local animal shelter. She will be greatly missed by many.
