Nancy F. Gaver, 82, died November 25 at her home in Brookfield with her husband at her side.

Born in Lowell, Massachusetts, August 21, 1941, she was the daughter of Eustace and Nancy Mattinson Fiske, and the wife of William D. Gaver.

She was a public school guidance counselor, school psychologist, and alternative education specialist before joining her husband in founding Defern Contracting, a design-build company in 1980 located in Brookfield.

Nancy was active in and supportive of many local organizations including The Hikers, an educational

scholarship support organization.  She was deeply involved with the re-emergence of Lucknow, The Castle in the Clouds, as museum manager and as a member of the Curatorial Committee.

The family includes husband, William D. Gaver, three stepdaughters, Karen McVay of Millis, Massachusetts, Melinda Soell of Boulder, Colorado, Pamela Grande of Glastonbury, Connecticut, and stepson Gregg Gaver of Glastonbury, Connecticut, nine grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several cousins.

Funeral and memorial services will be private.

Memorial donations may be made to The Castle in the Clouds, Moultonborough, New Hampshire or the Lakes Region Humane Society, Ossipee, New Hampshire.
