Mixon Croswell, Jr, 89, of Gold Street died on Monday, August 10th, 2026.

He was born on February 7, 1937, in Troy, Alabama; the son of Mixon Croswell, Sr and Irma Croswell.

He proudly served his country for 27 years in the United States Army, earning numerous decorations, medals, badges, citations, and campaign ribbons throughout his distinguished military career. Among his most notable honors were the Bronze Star Medal with “V” Device, Two Purple Hearts, and multiple parachutist badges with fourragère. While he took great pride in his service, some of his greatest joys were found in the simple moments spent with family. He especially loved being out on the boat, fishing, and sharing time on the Cobbossee Lake with those he loved most.

Mixon is survived by his significant other Marie Canwell of Maine; his children Virginia Hampton of Louisiana. Jay Croswell of Maine. Josh and Briana Croswell of Maine; 1 sibling Donald Croswell; 2 grandchildren Julian Croswell and Ife Hampton; Nieces and Nephews: Robbyn Prewitt-Scott, Katrina, Frederick, Corgiss, and Cynthia; and sixteen great nieces and nephews: Tamika, Miguel, Renise, Marquise, Rashawn, Tychelle, Tammara, Rachel, Trenelle, Princen, Tynesha, Rozere', Trenise, Mikyle, and Tre'shyna; thirty-five great-great nieces and nephews

He was pre-deceased by his parents, Mixon and Irma Croswell, his sisters, Annie Ruth Prewitt-Nicholas and Bettye Jean Yeatman, and his brother, John Croswell.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, August 17th, 2026 at Southern Maine Veterans’ Cemetery.
