Obituary

Maxine (Mills) Chadbourne, 80, of Maplewood, Me, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, September 26, 2012, at the Hyder Hospice House in Dover, NH.
She was born in Lovell, Me, on February 18, 1932, the daughter of the late George & Frances (Andrews) Mills.
She attended Gorham State Teachers College, and graduated from the University of NH. Since she was five years old, she always wanted to be a school teacher. She first taught school in New Jersey, then after moving to East Wakefield, NH in 1958, she taught at the Paul School in Sanbornville for 20 yrs.
She was a member of Porter Grange, American Legion Auxiliary Key Day Post 123, Salvation Army, the first female head Diaconate of the First Congregational Church of Wakefield, and a great community volunteer worker for many years.
Maxine is survived by "the love of her life" her husband of 59 yrs, Robert L. Chadbourne, daughters, Jana Mayotte & husband Frank, Valerie Ward and husband Jeff, sons, Duane Chadbourne, Robert "Dan" Chadbourne and wife Cynthia; 7 grandchildren, Stephanie Huston and husband Don, Allison & Adam Chadbourne, Jason and wife Andrea, Robert, Devon & Lucas Ward; 4 great grandchildren, Alexandra & Duston Weidner, Christian & Scarlet Ward; her brothers, Carl Mills of Brownfield ME, Dwight, Wayne Mills and wife Sandy of Kezar Falls ME, Thurman Mills and wife Fern of Porter ME; her sister Hilda Day and husband Forrest of Kezar Falls ME, and many nieces & nephews. Maxine was predeceased by her granddaughter, Leighanne Mayotte, her brother, Robert "Bobby" Mills and sisters, Josephine Libby & Sylvia Douglas.
There will be a graveside service on Saturday, October 6th at 11am at the Maplewood Cemetery, Maplewood, ME, with Pastor Jean Main officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Visiting Nurse Association of Southern Maine.
