Mary J. Roberts Goodrich, 91, peacefully completed her life, surrounded by her family, at her Alton, N.H. home on July 3, 2014.
She was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, Otis in 2001. She leaves her four children, Ann Lewis (Dan) of Worcester Ma., Charles (Tracy) of Pomfret, Ct., Sandra of Amesbury, Ma., and Marye McKenney (Wayne) of South Lancaster, Ma.. Mary also leaves two siblings, Irving (Jean) of Alton and Ruth Schenck (William) of Keene, N.H.. In addition, she leaves numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Born Dec. 13, 1922 in Wolfeboro, N.H. the daughter of Charles E. and Ella Frances (Rowe) Roberts, Mary graduated from U.N.H. in 1946 with a degree in occupational therapy She married Otis on June 8, 1947.
Mary worked as an occupational therapist, art director for three Sturbridge area schools, office manager for Hearing Associates in Worcester, ceramics teacher (50 years), as well as teaching quilting.
She was a member of The Sturbridge Federated Church, Rainbow for girls, Eastern Star, 4-H leader, Daughters of the American Revolution, Sons of the Mayflower, Founding Families of New England.
Always busy she, at 80, tracked polar bears in the artic, rode a jet ski at 89 to go get ice cream, as well as sewing and quilting.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 Sunday, July 13, 2014, at the East Alton Meeting house at Gilman Corners in Alton.
