Marjorie Richardson Fisk, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother

Farmington, New Hampshire - Marjorie Richardson Fisk, 94, of Farmington, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2026, with her loving family at her side. Marjorie loved her family.

She was born on May 26, 1932, in Dover, New Hampshire, to Charles and Verna (Eldridge) Richardson. Marjorie graduated from Dover High School in 1950. She served as a class officer.

After high school, Marjorie attended the University of NH and graduated with a BA in Education in 1954. She was active in 4-H, taught Sunday School, and served as a camp counselor at Camp Truda in Maine for many years.

She and her husband, William Fisk, married in 1955. She stayed at home, helping run the dairy farms Bill was managing. They traveled throughout New England farming and raising the family. In the early 1970's, they returned to New Hampshire, and she resumed teaching and coaching. Her players were always an extension of her family and spent many hours off the court together.

Marjorie loved anything and everything related to sports. If she wasn’t coaching, she was playing. She loved tennis and golf and passed that love on to her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed playing games, especially cards. Quite often on a weekend night, relatives would sit at the dining room table for a very competitive game of Whist or Cancellation Hearts. Marjorie eventually played Phase 10 with her grandchildren and Cribbage with her dear friend Janet.

Marjorie was a pioneer in her coaching and teaching at Dover High School, earning many accolades during her career. She taught physical education from 1970 to 1995 and served as head coach for both basketball and field hockey from 1970 to 1982. Her teams won the basketball state championship in 1977 and the field hockey state championship in 1975. She was honored at the high school’s homecoming in 2013 for her legendary commitment to the students and local community. Marjorie was inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame in 1988 and the University of New Hampshire Athletics Hall of Fame in 1999. She was inducted into the Dover Sports Hall of Fame in 2003, and in 2004 Dover High School named a field hockey field on its campus after her. Marjorie was inducted into the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Hall of Fame in 2005. She also traveled to Albuquerque, New Mexico, to be recognized for a National Coaching award. Marjorie truly was a pioneering force behind girls’ sports and impacted the lives of so many young female athletes.

Marjorie’s love of coaching kept her busy during her summers coaching middle schoolers in Rochester’s youth softball league while her youngest daughter played. She also taught tennis lessons for Rochester’s recreation department. She served on the Board for the Rochester YMCA, helping establish this program and facilitating the build of the ice arena on Lowell St.

Marjorie is survived by her children, Deb Conroy (husband Robert), Douglas Fisk, Diane Lombardo (husband Thomas), and Donna White (husband Darrell); grandchildren Brett Conroy, Brooke Conroy, Casey Conroy, and Rachel Welch (Conroy); Jennifer Fisk, Alyson Anderson (Lombardo), Elizabeth Lombardo, Carolyn White, and Nicholas White, as well as great-grandchildren Kairi and Kaleb, Cecilia, Kooper and Crew, and Alaina and Gianna. She is also survived by nieces and nephews. She also had a very dear family friend, Janet Hackett. She was predeceased by her parents, her brother Gordon, her sister Barbara, and her husband William.

The Celebration of Life service to honor the life of Marjorie Richardson Fisk will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 11 am, immediately followed by visitation with the family and refreshments at Emmanuel Church Family Life Center, 75 Eastern Avenue, Rochester, NH 03867.
