Marie E. Lawson, (Nicholson) 85, of Alton NH passed away peacefully in her home with loved ones by her side on March 7, 2022. She was the daughter of Lester P. Nicholson and Gertrude M. Nicholson (Mallard).

Marie was born in Boston MA. She attended elementary school in Woburn MA and was then educated at Notre Dame School in Tyngsboro MA. She spent her senior year of high school at Howe High School in Billerica MA. and graduated from there with her friends.

When she married and became a wife and mother, she joined "County Extension" where she met who would become lifelong friends.

Later in life she became a Sweet Adeline with the Liberty Chapter of Arlington MA. She sang beautifully and loved the Barbershop Jamborees in Alton Bay NH.

Marie was employed as a florist at Davis Flowers in Billerica MA for 10 years. She was passionate about her profession. She was then employed at M/A-Com in Burlington MA for over 20 years until her retirement.

After retirement she moved to Alton Bay with her longtime companion Peter G. Rice. They wed soon after. She repeatedly created beautiful floral arrangement of all types for events for family and friends. She did beautiful work and the outcomes were breathtaking.

Marie was predeceased by parents, her brother John B. Nicholson of Dracut, Ma, her former husband Herbert B. Lawson, a loving daughter Dianne E. Grace of Dracut, MA, and her husband Peter G. Rice of Natick, MA/Alton, NH.

Marie is survived by 5 daughters. Donna Burns of Alton, NH, Judith Chamberland of Rumney NH, Cynthia Booth of N. Londonderry NH, Lynda Morin of Nashua NH, and Janet Smith of Hollis, NH, and a loving Son-in- Law, Jimmy Grace of Dracut, MA

She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren and 6 Great Grandchildren.

Special mention of "Club" Sisters Eleanor Kilmarten, Diane Harmon, Anne Whitney, Laurel Bingham, Jeannie Lafontaine, Mary Raymond, Pauline Petak, Sandra Miller and two deceased members Anna and Anita.

Viewing hours are from 9:00 to 11:00 am on Saturday March 12, 2022 at Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street in Alton, NH. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am at St. Katharine Drexel Church, 40 Hidden Springs Road in Alton, NH.  Reception immediately following after closure of services. Interment will be in the spring time at New Riverside Cemetery.
