Obituary

Farmington, NH

Margaret "Peggy" Goslin passed away peacefully on November 10th at the assisted care facility where she resided in Dover, NH, just weeks shy of her 83rd birthday. Her final moments were lucid, happy, and surrounded by family. She was born in Littleton, the middle child of Yvonne Hanson.

As a life-long resident of Farmington, she was a pillar of the community, where her warmth, generosity, and singular wit charmed those fortunate enough to cross paths with her. It was here that she met her husband, Ron Goslin. Together, the two of them set out to make their hometown a better place, and they excelled. Over the course of their 63-year marriage, they provided affordable housing through the properties they managed, sponsored and coached little league teams across generations, and built many of their own businesses—including Gozzie's Garage, the legendary Peg's Keg, and the assisted living home, Our Place Inn Time, where she never hesitated to stand up for what she knew was right. Her courage in defending her principles and advocating for others helped set a new standard for what quality care could be.

For all of her community work, Peg's true passion was her family. No matter what business ventures she was juggling, she never missed a chance to pick up her grandkids from school, buy them matching outfits, cheer them on (loudly) at plays and baseball games, whip up one of her signature dishes like chop suey or flapjacks, or, true to form, endorse a well-timed curse word to ensure that every family photo was filled with smiling faces.

This isn't to say that Peggy was all work and family. She was unmistakably her own person. While there were louder parts of her personality, such as her ability to fire off zingers, tell a story, or tear up a dance floor, she nurtured quieter, less visible passions as well. Among them was poetry—her words, rich with imagery and playful metaphor, often celebrated her children and grandchildren. She was also a remarkable seamstress, having sewn many of her children's clothes for them growing up. Peggy enjoyed watching Shirley Temple movies and was a die-hard country music fan, harboring a particular affinity for Alan Jackson and Kenny Rodgers—the latter bearing a striking resemblance to that of her husband, Ron. Coincidence? Maybe.

Peg was an exceptionally generous woman who recognized the value of time, and she spent most of hers giving to others. She taught her children the quiet power of kindness and the courage to extend it beyond the familiar. Her ambition, creativity, humor, compassion, and small town grit permeated her life's work and shines on through her three children. Peggy's absence won't easily fade, but neither will her lasting legacy.

She is survived by her husband, Ron, and their three children: Ron and his wife, Melissa, of Middleton; Vickie Carr and her husband, Scott, also of Middleton, and Roberta Mifsud and her partner, Chris Connolly of Farmington; nine grandchildren: Ryan, Cam, Patrick, Zachary, Derek, Maggie, Bailey, Mia, and Matthew; seven great-grand children: Carter, Aurora, Kowen, Ella, Josie, Rhys, and Delainey; two sisters, Christie Eaton and her husband, Craig, and Donna Laurion, and many nieces and nephews. Peg was predeceased by her mother, Yvonne Hanson; her sister, Barbara Stevens; her brother, Richard Hanson; her mother-in-law, Goldie Goslin; and her beloved friend and father-figure, Dr. Robert Lord.
