Obituary

Margaret Jane (Seale) Bridges passed away peacefully of natural causes on the afternoon of April 28, 2018, at Pleasant View Center in Concord, New Hampshire. She was a few weeks shy of her 90 th birthday.

Her depression-era childhood was spent in Dedham, Massachusetts. Margaret – also known as Peg and Peggy - knew two things for sure growing up – that her fondness of caring for children would lead her to become a teacher, and that she would marry her high school sweetheart, Robert Bridges. She attended Wheelock College in Boston and spent most of her career as a kindergarten teacher in Pittsford, New York. She was a patient teacher, with a kind but firm hand, and more than one early student was delighted when they learned their own child would be in Mrs. Bridges' class. She was inspired by nature and her lesson plan would often revolve around an item from her garden, an interesting shell or piece of driftwood discovered on the Cape, or a treasure found while "odd-podding" at a campsite somewhere in the northeast.

Margaret is survived by her best friend, life-long partner and loving husband of 69 years, Robert. Upon retiring, Bob and Peg travelled the country in a camper, finally returning to New England to settle "on the hill" in Wakefield, NH. They later relocated to Gilmanton, NH.

Also surviving are her five children: Susan of Harlem, NY; Mark and his wife Sherry of Spencerport, NY; Laurie Jo (MacPherson) and her friend Brian of North Port, FL; Lisa and her husband Terry (Smith) of Bedford, NH; Cindy and her husband Jim (Juneau) of Gilmanton, NH; and her grandchildren Charles and Susannah (Leeds), Troy (Bridges) and his wife Nicole (Viggiano), Tobie and her husband Michael (Stallings), Heather and her husband Jim (Urso), Andrew and his wife Charlene (MacPherson), Rob and his wife Nelly (MacPherson), Alex and his wife Siew Yen (MacPherson), Josh and his wife Rebekah (Smith), and Sierra and Mitch (Juneau); and her great-grandchildren, Charlie, Sam, Grant, Naomi, and Mackenzie.

Peggy was a happy and joyful soul, a loyal friend, a good listener and counselor , with an abiding faith that all would turn out as it should. She was a loving and much-loved mother and grandmother. She was a selfless, nurturing woman with an unquenchable positive spirit that she willingly shared. She was a rock. She was a light. She was among God's finest work.

The family is extremely grateful to the dedicated floor staff and care-givers at Granite Ledges and Pleasant View Center in Concord, NH.

A private memorial service is planned. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, or a charity of your choice in Margaret's name.
