Mae E. (Holmberg) Ellis, age 87, of Bay Road in Farmington, NH, died peacefully at home on July 12, 2014.
Born October 17, 1926 in Worcester, MA, the daughter of Bertil and Edna (Spiller) Holmberg, she was raised in Malden, MA.
Mae was born with Spina Bifida, but overcame the odds to graduate Malden High School, Class of 1945, get married, have two children and a career.
She resided in Farmington, NH for 24 years, having come from Watertown, MA, where she and her husband lived for 40 years.
Prior to retirement, she worked as a Bookkeeper for 13 years in the Recording Secretary's Office at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA. She had previously worked at Malden City Hall and Perkins School for the Blind.
An avid stamp collector, she was a member of the Great Bay Stamp Club. She enjoyed flower gardening, bird watching, candlepin bowling, a recipient of many bowling trophies. She was an avid collector.
Survived by her husband of 63 years: Albert Claude Ellis of Farmington, their 2 sons: James B. Ellis and wife Marilyn of Farmington, David C. and wife Peg Ellis of Temple, Maine, a grandson: Andrew C. Ellis of Temple, Maine, 2 sisters: Marjorie A. Corrigan and Shirley J. Briggs, also many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a brother: Bertil R. Holmberg and a sister: Gladys L. Skerry.
Calling hours are Friday from 7-9 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2014 at 11:00am at First Free Will Baptist Church, 20 Depot Road, New Durham, NH 03855 with Rev. James Nason, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington.
