Lucille G. Woollett, age 85, of Halls Hill Road in Alton, passed away on March 7, 2014, at Wolfeboro Bay Care Center in Wolfeboro.
Born on July 10, 1928 in Farmington, NH, the daughter of Carl and Alice (Swinerton) Canney, she was a graduate of Farmington High School, Class of 1947 and subsequently worked in several small businesses.
Lucille was a devout Christian who lived by the Golden Rule.
In 1950 she married Charles M. Woollett of Alton, NH. They owned and operated the Busy Corner Store in Alton Bay for several years. They subsequently moved to their home on Route 11 where they lived for 30 years and raised their 2 daughters. During this time they owned and operated a Real Estate and Insurance business. Lucille also refinished and sold antiques. They moved to their present home on Halls Hill Road in 1982.
Survived by her husband of 63 years Charles M. Woollett and their 2 daughters: Mary Cornelissen and husband Marty of Alton, NH and Ruth Woollett of Arlington, VA.
Lucille enjoyed her many flowers, feeding and watching the birds and being outside. She spent many hours tending her beautiful gardens. She was an avid swimmer spending many summer afternoons at the Alton Bay swimming area. Her regular friends called themselves 'the sunshine girls'. She also loved to travel with her mother and friends. She went to the Holy Land in the early 80's.
She was very talented with crafts such as sewing, knitting and crocheting and made many beautiful things. Friends and family have many wonderful sweaters that she made. She also donated many handmade things to needy children. She loved animals and was very fond of her cats.
She will be remembered as a warm and loving woman with a very positive spirit and sense of adventure.
A Memorial Service will be held at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street in Alton, NH on Thursday March 13, 2014 at 4:00 pm.
