Lorraine F. Synan, passed away peacefully, on April 29, 2024 at Harmony Homes by the Bay in Durham, NH, where she most recently resided.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, daughter of Joseph & Mary (Finnerty) Costello, she was raised in Chestnut Hill, Brookline, MA, married her husband Robert Desmond and lived in Stoughton, MA for over forty years, after being widowed, she married her second husband William "Bill" Synan in 1997 and moved to Somerset, MA.  She resided in Farmington, NH since 2013.

A devout Catholic, she was a parishioner at St. James Church in Stoughton, MA, St. Patrick's Church in Somerset, MA and St. Peter's Church in Farmington, NH.

Lorraine had worked as a Library Assistant in Stoughton and Somerset, MA.  She loved reading, working in the yard, walking country roads and enjoying the scenery.

She was passionate about her family, including 3 children: Deborah & husband Kevin Scanlon, Donna & husband Marc Rabinovitz, Robert & wife Sandy Desmond, 5 grandchildren: Lori Scanlon, Marissa Desmond & MacKenzie Desmond, Joshua Rabinovitz & Jennifer Fernandes, 2 great grandchildren: Olivia & Dylan Seckendorf, also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her granddaughter Megan Scanlon and siblings: Marjorie Carney, Richard Costello & Joseph Costello.

Calling hours are Friday May 3, 2024 from 8:30-9:30am at Waring Sullivan Funeral Home, 866 County Street, Somerset, MA 02726, with a funeral mass at 10am at St. Patrick's Church, followed by urn interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery.
