Lorraine B. Gilbert, 93, of Alton NH passed away on Friday September 11, 2026 at Golden View Health Care Center in Meredith, NH following a brief period of failing health.

Lorraine was born in Wolfeboro on May 13, 1933, the daughter of Frank A. and Corinne (McHugh) Burleigh. She graduated from Alton High School in 1951 and married Kenneth B. “Chick” Gilbert in 1954. Lorraine was a homemaker who also worked in the family businesses; Four Winds Motor Court, Gilbert’s Greenhouse and then started her own arts & crafts shop, Williamsburg Remembered. Lorraine was a member of Alton’s Congregational Church Choir and served on the Alton School Board. In later years she and our father enjoyed wintering in St Croix, U.S.V.I. often hosting family and friends. 

Lorraine is survived by her four sons, K. Mitchell Gilbert of Gilmanton, NH, Douglas M. Gilbert of Gorham, NH, Scott F. Gilbert of Belmont, NH and John C. Gilbert of Huachuca City, AZ, Marianne Carroll and her son Jeff of North Carolina; as well as grandchildren Norman Gilbert of Gilmanton, Vanessa (Gilbert) Rogan of Manchester, Daniel Gilbert and his wife Lisa of Salem, MA, Courtney Gilbert of Laconia, and great grandchildren Allana Rogan and Vivienne Gilbert. Lorraine is predeceased by her husband, Kenneth B. “Chick” Gilbert, her parents, sister Dorothy and brother Frank. 

She will be laid to rest by her family at the New Riverside Cemetery in Alton, NH.
