Lorraine Bemis, age 71, of Ten Rod Road in Farmington, died April 24, 2015, peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 19, 1944 in Nottingham, the daughter of Hartford and Florence (Sewell) Laughton, she was a graduate of Dover High School, Class of 1963. She and husband Ken raised their family in Farmington, retired to the North Country for ten years and recently returned home.

In earlier years, she worked as a Cosmetologist. She had worked as an assembler at General Electric in Somersworth and more recently as a greeter at Wal-Mart in Somersworth.

Lorraine was a home provider of foster care children for ten years. She loved helping others, a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Also, she enjoyed crafts and ceramics.

Survived by her husband Kenneth Bemis and their 4 daughters: Vicky and husband Dale Hersom, Nancy Bemis and partner Stephen Waterbury, Denise and husband Dave Tanner, Cathy and husband Tod Alberto, 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, a brother Robert Laughton, a sister Beverly Rabideau, also several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents and 4 siblings: Nancy, Sonny, David and Johnny.

A memorial gathering will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2015 from 4-6 pm with a service at 6pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH. If desired, memorial donations may be made in her memory to: Life Choice, part of the Hospice Compassus, 65 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842.
