Obituary

Kathleen “Kathy” Joy Toussaint, 83, of Lebanon, Maine, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, with her family by her side.

Kathy was born on April 11, 1943, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, the daughter of Joseph B. Mullally and Lillian (Charette) Mullally. She was a graduate of Portsmouth High School.

Kathy devoted many years as a stay-at-home mother, raising five children and creating a loving and steady home for her family. As her children grew older, she held a variety of jobs over the years, including at Data General, Janco, and Hannaford, and was even known as a friendly, door-to-door Avon lady.

She found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. Kathy loved to create - whether it was building intricate miniature dollhouses, quilting, crocheting, or knitting. She especially loved making things by hand for her husband, children, and grandchildren, each piece created with care and love. She will be remembered for her love of lobster, maple donuts, crossword puzzles and settling in with a good scary novel. She enjoyed daily games of cribbage with her husband and especially enjoyed skunking him. She also made the very best potato salad, a recipe that has been passed down and will continue to be loved for generations.

Kathy had a quiet kindness about her—she was patient, gentle, and never said a mean thing about anyone. More than anything, she loved being surrounded by her family and truly cherished those moments together.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 66 years, Richard Arnold Toussaint Sr., the love of her life. She also leaves behind her children: William Joseph Toussaint and his wife Kathryn of Middleton, New Hampshire; Cherie Jean Kelley and her husband Eugene of North Berwick, Maine; Eric Scott Toussaint and his wife Kristie of Sanbornville, New Hampshire; and Shawn Paul Toussaint and his wife Jennifer of Acton, Maine and her siblings Mary Foster and Thomas Mullally of St. Johnsbury Vermont. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Lillian Mullally; her son, Richard Arnold Toussaint Jr.; her sister, Patricia Wyker Mullally; and four grandsons.

There will be no formal services at this time. A private gathering will be held with her husband and children’s families to celebrate her life.
