Justina "Tina"
Drouin
February 28, 1937 – August 28, 2024
Justina "Tina" Drouin
Age 87
Of Harmony Home by the Bay, Durham, NH
Went to her forever home above on Wednesday, August 28, 2024
Born 2/28/1937, Vega Alta, Puerto Rico to her father, Agripino Guzman Valentin and mother, Josefina Salgado Vega. She was the third oldest of eleven brothers and sisters.
When Tina was 17 years old, the Glasz family she was a nanny for in Puerto Rico planned to move back to the states for work and Tina was asked to join them as part of their family. Though she was reluctant to leave her own family, she decided to take this journey as an opportunity to see new things. Though she only spoke Spanish prior to moving to the states, she quickly learned to understand, speak and write English. It was here she met her future husband, Armand Drouin, through attending Sacred Heart Church in Milton, NH. They were married on April 4,1964 in the same church.
Tina worked various factory jobs in her early years and retired from her longest held position at Spaulding Fiber in 1999. She made many friends there and kept in touch with some of them even after leaving Spaulding. After retiring, she felt a need to contribute to the community and sought a position as a volunteer at Rochester Manor. This was a position she enjoyed very much because she was able, not only to assist with the care of residents, but also interact and spend time with them. Anyone who knew Tina knows, she was a natural caretaker. She even received Volunteer of the Year one year.
Tina lived most of her life in Rochester, NH. She had the ability to strike up conversations with anyone and everyone she met, even strangers. She was genuinely interested in the lives of everyone she met and could make everybody laugh. She is already so sorely missed.
Tina's husband, Armand Drouin, preceded her in death February 2016. She is survived by her three children, Susan Boston and husband Rob of Farmington, NH, Marc Drouin and fiancé, Beth English Ahern of Strafford, NH and Tammy Pierce and husband David of Newmarket, NH. She also leaves behind her greatest treasures, two grandchildren, Kaelynn Garland and husband Seth of East Wakefield, NH and Jacob Daniels and girlfriend Shaunessy Gower of Somersworth, NH, and great-grandchildren, Averie, Harper and Marleigh Garland. She also precedes in death, seven brothers and sisters, her bonus brother, Peter Glasz and his wife, Janet along with her bonus sister, Louise Glasz Merchant, many nieces and nephews and too many friends to count.
To honor Tina's wishes, there will be no formal funeral service but, instead, a celebration of life because she was so vibrant and full of life, as many of you already know. 😊 The celebration will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the American Legion, Eastern Ave, Rochester, NH form 1:00 to 5:00 PM. All are welcome to attend and share stories and memories.
