Obituary

Josephine Ella Amenta, 94, of Dawson Street in Milton, died May 10, 2011 at Rochester Manor, after a brief illness.

Born December 11, 1916 in Winchendon, MA, daughter of the late George J. and Eva Marie (Young) Cross, she had lived in Milton for 47 years with her loving daughter Dorothy Eva Marie (Guy) Provencher and son in law Norris L. Provencher I.



Josephine worked for several years at Winchendon Toy Factory in Winchendon, MA, as a factory worker. She and her late husband Alfred J. Guy, owned a mom and pop store/Gas station in Winchendon, MA. She participated for many years in the Strafford County Day Out Program, in which she received many gold medals in the Senior Olympics. She assisted in raising eight grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with her very large family. She loved to read the bible every day! She was known in the community by many as Nana Jo.

She was a longtime member of the Milton Community Church, also a member of the Milton Woman's Club.



Widow of the late Alfred J. Guy, she is survived by her daughter Dorothy and son in law Norris L. Provencher of Milton, 8 grandchildren: Ricky and wife Christine Smith of Gardner, MA, Kathy and husband Rich Oberist of Worcester, MA, Carol and husband Dwayne Blyther of Hubbardson, MA, Draxine and husband Frank Whipple of Fitzwilliam, NH, Norrene Nason and Mike Parker of Wakefield, NH, Lorraine Varieur of Milton, Dorinda Provencher of Wakefield, NH and Norris L. Provencher, II and wife Beth of Exeter, NH, 17 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren, 1 great great great grandson and 4 step grandchildren. Josephine was part of a 6 generation family!



Calling hours are Friday from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH with a service at 12:30 pm, Pastor Dick Arnold and Pastor Bob Walsh, officiating. Interment will follow at Milton Mills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to: Rochester VNA or Strafford County Homemakers, who were very special to Nana Jo.
