Joseph Dean Whitten Sr., 83, passed away Feb. 15, 2025. Born July 2, 1941 in Wolfeboro NH to Pauline & Morris Whitten.

Joe was raised in Wolfeboro, married Dorothy Dodier of Sanbornville and together they raised five children in Farmington.

Joe spent many years as a skilled painter and wallpaper hanger before his retirement from the University of NH. His hobbies included  bowling, horseshoes, and camping, a lifelong tradition still enjoyed by his family.

Joe is predeceased by his parents and wife, Dee, as well as his brother, Heman H. "Red" Roberts. Joe is survived by his children, Cheryl Mitchell, Joe Jr and wife Cheryl Whitten, Carl and wife Connie Whitten, Chuck Whitten, Craig and wife Stacey Whitten. Joe has 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held in the spring.
