Joseph Charles Cyr, 78 of Alton, NH passed away on November 2, 2024.   His passing was unexpected, but he was in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his loving family.

Joe Cyr was born on April 30, 1946 in Unionville CT, the Son of the late Martin F. Cyr and Anita (Girardin) Cyr.   He graduated from Farmington High School and enlisted in the US Air Force.  He served two tours in Vietnam and was later stationed at several European and US bases.

After serving 26 years in the US Air Force, he retired and worked as a store manager for the Off Price Outlets.  Golf was a hobby of his and he later became a greens keeper at the Ledges Golf Course in York, ME.

Joe Cyr is survived by his Wife of 53 years Linda Jane Cyr (Peterson), his Children; Joe Cyr Jr. and wife Maggie (Thrun) Cyr, Amy (Cyr) Fontaine and husband Scott Fontaine, Angela (Cyr) Therrien and husband Steve Therrien, Ricky Cyr, Andrew Cyr and wife Marybeth (Albine) Cyr.  He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his seven brothers and sisters, Alice Smith, Claire Henn, Irene Ostiguy, Martin Cyr, Francis Cyr, Roland Cyr and Paul Cyr.

A Christian funeral service followed by burial with full military honors will be on Thursday November 7th at 12pm EST at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home,12 School St. Alton, NH.
