John R. McDonald, age 85, formerly of Hooksett, died November 1, 2015 at Epsom Healthcare Center.
Born February 4, 1930 in Manchester, son of John H. and Florence (Young)McDonald, he was a graduate of Manchester Central High School. John had resided for man years in Hooksett, also in Allenstown and Alton, NH.
A Veteran of the United States Army, having served in Alaska.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a Supervisor at Good Night Mobile Homes in Hooksett.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Widower of the late Marjorie E. (Wilder) McDonald, he is survived by 2 sons: Stephen C. and wife Debbie McDonald of Belmont, Bruce D. McDonald and Rhonda Weeks of Allenstown, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, 3 sisters: Ethel Chaput, Muriel Sprague and Janet Butler, also several nieces and nephews and sister in law: Beverly McDonald. Predeceased by a son Michael J. McDonald, a sister Hazel and a brother Jim.
Calling hours are Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8pm at Peaslee Alton Funeral Home, 12 School Street in Alton, NH. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at 11am at the funeral home. Interment will follow at New Riverside Cemetery in Alton.
