John Daniel Mazgelis, age 89, of Sunset Shore Drive, Alton Bay, died May 10, 2021 at Portsmouth Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.
Born July 21, 1931 in Brockton, Massachusetts, son of Clement and Margaret Mazgelis. He is pre-deceased by his two brothers and two sisters. He met and married his beloved wife Claudette (Nadeau) and they raised one daughter and four sons in Brockton. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean war where he honed his skills as an aircraft mechanic in various deployments. He enjoyed sports hunting and fishing, especially with his sons or one of his many brothers-in law. He also enjoyed fixing anything around the house or yard that broke, and prided himself on his near perfect attendance during his 30 year career with IBM as a Customer Engineer at various large accounts in Boston, MA.
He and Claudette re-settled first in Windham NH and then upon retirement in Litchfield, NH. During his retirement he was in much demand for house projects of all kinds by his children. He happily gave of his time and talents and many projects got done with much appreciation and a lot of fun all around. He devoted himself to the loving care of Claudette through her decline from Alzheimer's Disease, with assistance from Joanne and her husband Bob. He was heartbroken when she passed on in 2017 and lived quietly on his own for several years before going to live with Joanne and Bob where he was able to find joy and satisfaction from being helpful in any way he could be.
Widower of the late Claudette R. (Nadeau) Mazgelis, he is survived by their 5 children: Joanne and husband Robert Wyszynski, Matthew and wife Gail Mazgelis, Paul and husband Jeffrey Hart, Daniel and wife Tina Mazgelis, Joshua Mazgelis and ex-wife Dorothy Nield, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, as well as many nieces and nephews.
