John William “Bill” Gowell, age 95, of Gilford, NH, passed away Thursday morning, September 24, 2026, at Concord Hospital-Lakes Region in Laconia, NH.

Born on October 31,1930 in Swampscott, Massachusetts, the son of John W. Gowell and Mary (DiScipio) Gowell Amodeo, he had previously resided in Rochester, NH and also in Scarborough, Maine, most recently at home with his family in Gilford, NH.

He was a Veteran of the United States Navy.

Bill was formerly a Pilot, having flown for Howell Associates in Canada, where he met his wife Therese C. (Beaudoin) Gowell.

He had served as a Vice President at GTE Sylvania.

Bill enjoyed woodworking, he was a diehard Red Sox and New England Patriots fan. Most especially, he loved spending time with his granddaughters.

Widower of the late Therese Gowell, he is survived by their daughter: Monique L. Gowell and his 3 granddaughters: Stephanie C. Peaslee, Jaclyn R. Peaslee and Lauren N. Peaslee, his brother David & wife Harriett Gowell, niece Linda Gowell, also, Monique’s partner and Bill’s caregiver Mark Theriault.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026 at Peaslee Funeral Home, 24 Central Street, Farmington, NH at 11:00am. Interment will follow at Rochester Cemetery.
