IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Lawrence
Davis
August 12, 1960 – December 8, 2023
Rochester, NH
John Lawrence Davis, affectionately known as Johnny D., age 63, passed away unexpectedly on December 8, 2023, at his home, due to heart failure. A loving Son, Brother, Stepfather, Uncle and Godfather; John's loss will be sorely felt among his many friends and family members.
Born in El Paso, TX, on August 12, 1960, John was the oldest of five children born to Larry John Davis and Betty Jean (Lessard) Davis.
John grew up in Lynn, MA and graduated high school from Essex North Shore Agricultural & Technical School.
In 1979, John sought out adventure and decided to head out west, joining many in battling forest fires in Northern California. He would spend five years as a crew leader for the California Conservation Corps before returning back east, now making New Hampshire his permanent residence.
John would spend many years working with his brother Barry, as an electrician for Davis Electric.
A Jack of all trades, John was an avid collector of antiques, coins and trading cards; he also enjoyed animal husbandry, fishing, playing cards and country westerns. Known for his jovial temperament and his trademark goatee, John was regularly the life of the party, and was always ready to throw back a brew and enjoy the company of the many permanent lasting friendships he established over his life.
In 2003, John would meet the love of his life, Susan Hurd, and the two would be, practically, inseparable for the rest of his life.
John is survived by his dearest: Susan, his mother: Betty, Three stepchildren: Richard, Tom (and spouse Kaylin), and Kaitlyn (and spouse Nick); Four grandchildren: Graysen, Bodhi, Arlo and Adelyn; Four siblings: Barry, Jeff (and wife Kathy), Lorri Gunnison (and husband Doug) and Jerry; his many nieces and nephews: Brad, Kyle, Kasilyn, Justice, Jamen, Kendal, Tyler, Jackson, Shamus, Jayden, Bryce and Vanessa, along with the lasting legacy he has left with innumerable friends. Predeceased by his father: Larry, his grandparents, his sister-in-law: Julie, and his beloved dog: Skunk.
A celebration of Johnny's life will be held on Sunday, January 14, 2024, in the lower level of Farmington House of Pizza (485 Main St, Farmington, NH), from 1pm-4pm. A graveside service will be held in the Spring at Pine Grove Cemetery in Farmington.
